Our Annual Meeting, deferred from May, took place in November. Whilst we could not actually meet, we organised a virtual meeting. It was an unusual way of conducting business but then hasn’t everything been different this year. We had 20 respondents; 19 in full agreement, 1 who asked for clarification of some points and fortunately, no one against our proposals. This means the 2020 Annual Meeting Reports and Financial Statement have been accepted as presented to members via email and post. The new Committee was formed with 6 members and with Jenny Doyle elected as President. Other officers and responsibilities will be agreed with the new Commitee when they can safely meet.
County have been providing free Zoom activities. One of our members recently joined the Scandi Tree workshop. Here is the finished product - doesn't it look great?
We had planned several Activity afternoons for members in November but prior to the new lockdown, we have only managed one afternoon. We had 4 sessions during the afternoon: one art and three Christmas Wreath making. Sessions were of course limited to 6 people.
The art class followed an instructional video from Quirky Bird; this worked very well. The next 3 sessions involved making a Christmas Wreath with instructions from our President and again, this worked well although members did have to work hard in trying to get their willow into shape. The results of all were excellent and everyone who came enjoyed this opportunity to meet and be creative together. Not quite what we expected November to be like. We had lots planned with our Rule of 6 but best laid plans and all that. We managed to hold our Coffee Morning at The Bell today; 12 members (sitting in groups of 6) to enjoy what possibly may the last social occasion for the next 4 weeks. We are going ahead with our Activity Day tomorrow as we are still able to meet but then after that, no more socialising face to face but we may try a few Zoom get-togethers. In the meantime, our November Newsletter has been sent to members and is below for you to read.
