Well, what a few weeks we have had! After the initial advice from the Government on social distancing and the introduction of self-isolating for over-70s and the vulnerable, our Officers on the Committee met and took the decision to suspend our meetings, discussed how we would operate, what we needed to do to cancel the hall, speakers and events etc. We decided to help our members who were due to self isolate by setting up a phone buddy system. Thank goodness we started getting that set up as by last Monday, it was a more restrictive situation and no more physical social contact with each other! Fortunately, we had got our phone buddy system in place by then and so all systems go. Our first week has gone well and some of our members have already been sending pictures of what they have been up to:
X-Factor here we come ..... Saturday afternoon saw a group of ladies from all over Worcester county, , including 2 from Eckington, join together and, admirably led by Cathy Hart, sing their hearts out. We laughed as much as we sang and produced an admirable version of Fix You, complete with harmonies. Such a great uplift after the difficult couple of weeks we have all been through.
Well - who would have thought? A room full of women and not a sound to be heard. This was the effect of our gentle introduction into Tai Chi by our own Sue Edwards. After a brief introduction into the origins and benefits of Tai Chi, Sue led us through some gentle exercises and finishing off with a Dragon Walk, we were all soothed and calmed ready to face the world again. We could do with some more of that!
