Yesterday we held our first exercise taster session with Active Hereford & Worcester. Following an email from WFWI a few months ago about these sessions, we arranged for one to be held in our village. About a dozen villagers attended and actually enjoyed their exercise! We are hoping to get a few more villagers interested and get an exercise group using resources from Active Hereford & Worcester. Well worth doing
Earlier in March and when we had the lovely spring weather, a group of WI members visited our local town Tewkesbury for a walk around the back of the main streets and alongside the River Avon. Along the way, we had the opportunity to stop and read the history boards and examine the historically interesting buildings. Whilst the walk was only an easy mile, we ambled slowly for an hour taking in the sights and the gorgeous weather. Finally we reached our destination, The Rosado Lounge, for a well deserved cup of coffee.
Continuing our use of our local celebrities as speakers, we welcomed Elizabeth Beacon to our March meeting. Elizabeth is an author who writes for Mills & Boon. Her works have been sold all over the world and translated into many different languages including Japanese; it was amazing to see the Japanese books, complete with illustrations and reading from right to left. We were intrigued to learn about the structures of writing required for this genre of fiction and her talk was followed by a lively Q&A Session.
